NNPCL reduces petrol prices in Lagos and Abuja What is the price of Fuel 1 litre today

As of December 20, 2025, fuel prices in Nigeria for Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) range from approximately ₦699 to over ₦1,000 per liter, with recent market activity seeing prices fall in some major cities due to competition. Diesel prices are higher, averaging around ₦950 per liter from specific retailers. 

Latest Petrol (PMS) Prices

Fuel prices in Nigeria vary by location and retailer, as the market is deregulated. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) recently reduced its prices in response to competitive pricing strategies from private players like the Dangote Refinery. 

Dangote Partner Stations: Retailers partnering with the Dangote Refinery, such as MRS Oil Nigeria Plc and Ardova Plc (AP), are offering some of the lowest prices.

MRS stations are selling petrol for approximately ₦860 per liter in Lagos, ₦870 in the South-West, and ₦880 in the North.

AP stations have prices around ₦865 per liter in Lagos and slightly higher in other regions.

Dangote Refinery's gantry price (wholesale) was further reduced to ₦699 per liter as of December 11, 2025, which drives down retail costs for its partners.

NNPCL Stations: The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has adjusted its prices to compete.

In Lagos, NNPCL outlets are selling at approximately ₦838–₦840 per liter.

In Abuja, prices at NNPCL stations are around ₦835 per liter.

Other Marketers: Independent and other major marketers have prices that vary widely, sometimes exceeding ₦1,000 per liter, depending on their sourcing and location. 

Diesel (AGO) Prices

The price of Automotive Gas Oil (Diesel) also varies across the country. 

The national average price for diesel as of December 15, 2025, was approximately ₦950.25 per liter from some sources.

Specific retailers like PINNACLE and Sahara in Lagos were offering diesel around ₦940 - ₦951 per liter as of late November 2025. 

The current trend indicates falling prices driven by increased domestic refining ca

pacity and market competition.
